The fundraising event will take place on July 24, 2021
- Registration now open for the cycling event
- Routes include 10, 25 and 62 miles
- Funds raised support clinical research and trials at both cancer centers
“At Roswell Park, we believe that no one should have to choose between convenience and quality when facing a decision about where they or a loved one should seek care for cancer,” says Roswell Park President and CEO Candace S. Johnson, PhD. “That’s why partnerships with health care facilities like Catholic Health and the funds raised through Empire State Ride Long Island are so critical to continue to provide the latest clinical trials and treatments to patients across New York State.”
“The clinical trials we are conducting are pushing the frontiers of cancer care,” said Catholic Health Chairman of Oncology Services Bhoomi Mehrotra, MD. “Our patients here on Long Island are able to access novel therapies that are making a positive difference, both in longevity and quality of life.”
“On behalf of the Town Board and all of our residents, I’m proud to welcome participants in this amazing charity fundraiser event to the Town of Oyster Bay, and hope all enjoy the beautiful views from Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park,” said Supervisor Joseph Saladino. “Empire State Ride Long Island promises to be a fantastic event for cycling enthusiasts. The charitable funds raised at this event will go a long way towards continuing to provide top notch care for cancer patients throughout the area.”
Registration is now open for this event with a $25 fee for each participant. Riders will commit to fundraising a minimum based on their chosen route, which includes $250 for the 10- and 20-mile routes, $350 for the 62-mile route and $75 for riders under 18 on any route.
Funds raised by Empire State Ride Long Island support clinical research and trials at America’s first cancer center, Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo, New York and The Catholic Health Cancer Center on Long Island, New York. The two oncology leaders collaborate to offer patients on Long Island access to the newest clinical trials through the Roswell Park Care Network, the most expansive community cancer, supportive and specialized care affiliation, spanning across New York State.
